このカテゴリーは実際のカート最高峰の選手権として

ヨーロッパカート選手権、世界カート選手権、

など行われています。

全日本選手権とは、はじめに～日本カート選手権の概要～

フォーミュラレースにはF1からスーパーFJまで、

さまざまなカテゴリー／レースがあります。

それと同様に、レーシングカート（カート）にも

参加者のレベルや参戦趣旨に合わせたさまざまなカテゴリー／レースが存在します。

そんな多彩なカートレースの中で上級レベルに位置するのが、

日本自動車連盟（JAF）が制定する『日本カート選手権』です。

これは、各地のローカルレースで腕を磨き、

よりレベルの高い戦いを求めるようになった

ドライバーたちのために設けられた、

日本各地を転戦するレースシリーズ。

いわば“国内トップレベル”のカートレースです。

 

2020年の『日本カート選手権』は、3つの選手権で構成されています。

ひとつは、文字どおり日本一のカートドライバーを決定する

『全日本カート選手権』。

次に、各地域のチャンピオンを決定する『地方カート選手権』。

そして、15歳以下のジュニアドライバーのために設けられた『ジュニアカート選手権』です。

 

各地のレースで腕を磨いてきたドライバーたちが演じる戦いは、

ドライビング、バトル、レース運び、マシンのセッティング……とあらゆる面でハイレベル。

『日本カート選手権』には、ローカルレースとはまた違った、

上級レースならではの熱気と興奮が詰まっています。

 

■全日本カート選手権～世界カート選手権■

日本で開催されるカートレースのシリーズ戦で、

もっとも上位に位置するのが『全日本カート選手権』です。

これは、日本でもっとも速く強いドライバーを決定するシリーズ戦。

国際カートレースやフォーミュラなどの自動車レースに直結する、

国内カートレースの最高峰です。2019年の『全日本カート選手権』では、

レベル・実績別に『OK』『FS-125』『FP-3』という3つのクラス（部門）のシリーズ戦が実施されています。

3つのクラスすべて、レースの格式は“国内格式”です。

 

OKクラス　～カートのF1！～

2017年に始まったOKクラスは、

国内カートレースの最高峰たる全日本カート選手権の、

さらに最上位に位置するクラス。

ドライビングの技術もマシンの性能もチーム力も、

すべての面で“カートレースの頂点”と呼ぶべきシリーズ戦です。

OKクラスというカテゴリーは、

国際カート委員会（CIK-FIA）が制定した“国際カテゴリー”のひとつで、

世界カート選手権もこのOKクラスで行なわれています。

 

OKクラスに参加できるのは、国際B以上のドライバーライセンス所持者か、

下記１〜４のいずれかの資格を満たした国際Cセニアおよび国内Aドライバーズライセンス所持者です。

１．前年の全日本カート選手権OKクラスの出場実績

２．過去の全日本カート選手権スーパーKFクラス、KF1クラス、KFクラスで年間ランキング10位以内

３．前年の全日本カート選手権FS-125クラスで年間ランキング10位以内

４．JAFによって特に認められた者（海外での実績等）

 

OKクラスの大きな特徴のひとつが、マシンに搭載されるエンジンです。

2ストローク125cc水冷リードバルブ吸気という基本形式は、

カートレースの上級カテゴリーとしては一般的なものなのですが、

OKクラスではCIK-FIAの公認を取得したエンジンなら銘柄を自由に選ぶことができ、

さらに規定の範囲内で改造も許されています。つまり、

OKクラスは現在のカートレースでは稀な

“マルチメイクエンジンによるチューニングレース”なのです。

 

OKクラス用エンジンの始動方式は、押しがけ。

この始動を容易にするため、エンジンにはデコンプレッションバルブが装備されています。

電気式リミッターで制御される最高回転数は16,000rpm。

このエンジンに最大ベンチュリー径24mmのバタフライバルブ式キャブレターが装着されます。

 

OKクラスのもうひとつの特徴が、タイヤです。

OKクラスのタイヤは、スーパーGTと同じように、

メーカーもコンパウンドも自由。複数のタイヤメーカーがこの選手権に参入し、

ひとつの大会だけのために特別開発された

高性能のスペシャルタイヤ（市販されていないタイヤ）をレースに投入して、

互いの技術力を競い合っています。

耐久性と引き換えに最高レベルのグリップ力を与えられたタイヤから、

いかに100％の能力を引き出しながら、

ゴールまでその性能を保たせるか。

これがOKクラスのマシンを乗りこなすための大きなポイントとなります。

 

また、145kgという最低重量（マシン＋ドライバーの重量）の軽さは、

上級カテゴリーとしては異例のもの。

軽量のマシンはスペシャルタイヤのグリップ力と相まって、

驚異的なスピードでコーナーを駆け抜けていきます。

 

OKクラスのシリーズ戦は５つの大会で構成され、

それぞれの大会で予選と決勝を2回ずつ実施。つまり、

年間10戦のシリーズ戦です。

この10戦のうち、大きなポイントを獲得した8戦の合計ポイントによって

年間ランキングが決まります。

決勝だけでなく予選の順位にもポイントが与えられるため、

レースは予選から真剣勝負の戦いとなります。

 

ドライバー、カート／エンジン／タイヤの各メーカーやサプライヤー、

エンジンチューナー、レーシングチーム……と大勢の人々が力を結集し、

それぞれの名誉を懸けて戦いを繰り広げる、

熱くハイレベルなレース。

OKクラスは、いわば“カートのF1”なのです。
