まさにレッドブル X2014がピッタリ！なカテゴリーと考えこのカテゴリーを作り

BZA最高峰のレースシリーズとしてシリーズ戦を行うことにしました！

この新世紀サイバーフォーミュラを全シリーズ見た人にしか良さはわからないかもしれませんが、

レース系アニメと簡単に思ってはいけません。本格的レースアニメドラマになっています！

サイバーフォーミュラ、Future GPX Cyber Formula）は、

架空のモータースポーツを描いた1991年に放送されたサンライズ製作のテレビアニメ

1991年放送のTVシリーズは2015年、続編のOVA『11』から『SAGA』までは2016年 - 2020年を舞台に、

風見ハヤトを主人公として第10回 - 第15回サイバーフォーミュラ（以下、CF）ワールドグランプリ参戦チームの1つ、

スゴウアスラーダ（スゴウグランプリ・スゴウウィナーズ）の視点から主に描く。

OVA『SIN』は2022年の第17回CFワールドグランプリを舞台に、

ブリード加賀（加賀城太郎）を主人公とし、サーキットの若き帝王と呼ばれるようになったハヤトとの壮絶な死闘を描く。

企画当初は子供向けの要素が強く、「人工知能を持つ車が丁々発止しながら、

障害物レース的な変な場所を走っていく」という作風だった[1]。

『マッハGoGoGo』のような作品になる予定で、TVシリーズでのレースはサーキットや市街地コースだけでなく、

グラベル路面や氷上を走ることから「モータースポーツのトライアスロン」と評していた。

しかし、F1ブームから本格的なレース物に変更された[2]。

近未来的なカーデザインは『マクロスシリーズ』のバルキリーで知られる河森正治が担当した。

テレビシリーズでは『魔神英雄伝ワタル』と同じくレッドカンパニーが制作に関与し、

同社の吉川兆二がシリーズ構成のディレクションを担当した。吉川によると、

スポンサーのタカラは「金曜日の放送でレースをやって、

その優勝した車を土曜日に発売したい」という意向を持っていた。

しかし吉川は「ロボットものより車ものの方が画力が問われる」として、

レースは1か月に1回が限界ということになり、年間10レースということになった。

どこで誰が勝つかということや最終的な順位表は、最初に作られた。

監督の福田己津央（TVシリーズは福田の初監督作品である）と脚本の両澤千晶、音楽の佐橋俊彦（ともに『SAGA』以降）、

メカニカル作画担当の重田智（『ZERO』以降）といった制作スタッフは、本作から『GEAR戦士電童』（2000年）を経て

『機動戦士ガンダムSEED』（2002年）へとつながる。これらの作品では、重田特有の火花を散らすエフェクトが使用されている。

『ZERO』以降には、ガンダムシリーズのニュータイプのような「ゼロの領域」が登場した。
